On Tuesday 28th January 2020, the 6th Annual Symposium on the Role of Religion and Faith-based Organizations in International Affairs will be an important contribution to the Roadmap to Beijing +25. At the start of this momentous year, the Symposium will explore how faith actors and institutions can work in tandem with governments, the United Nations, and broader civil society to accelerate the pace towards gender equality, equity and justice. It will provide an honest appraisal of where faith actors, who both shape and are part of their societies, have contributed positively to this agenda and where and how they are hindering progress. The Symposium will also look at how the factors contributing to the current challenges to multilateralism and human rights relate to and exacerbate the specific trends to roll back human rights, and present ways in which governments and UN entities working in partnership with faith based organizations can recommit to the achievement of gender equality as an essential component to sustainable peace and development globally
