United Nations Strategic Learning Exchange on Religion, Development and Humanitarian Work, will take place under the patronage of HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal, in Amman, Jordan from 21st
-23rd March 2018.

The Strategic Learning Exchange (SLE) is a partnership effort stewarded by the UN Interagency Task Force on Religion and Development, together with the International Partnership on Religion and Sustainable Development (PaRD), the Humanitarian Leadership Academy, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), the King Abdullah Center for Dialogue (KAICIID), World Vision International (WVI) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ Jordan). This SLE will focus on the religion and role in addressing the SDGs with special focus on MENA region.

 

Guiding Questions for this peer-to-peer SLE deliberations will feature the following:

1. What are the linkages between between faith, humanitarian and development work; what religion, faith-based organisations and religious communities have as value-added; and the specific challenges posed by these inter-linkages?

2. How do these interlinkages manifest in practical development endeavors at the intergovernmental as
well as at field-levels?

3. How can the UN, governments, development agencies, faith-based organizations, together with other
civil society entities, realise coherent policies and an enabling environment for sustainable
development at all levels? What do the UN and Governments need to do differently or better in order to improve partnerships with the range of faith-based actors when undertaking development and humanitarian work?
