About JLI

An international collaboration on evidence for faith actors’ activities, contributions, and challenges to achieving humanitarian and development goals. Founded in 2012, JLI came together with a single shared conviction: there is an urgent need to build our collective understanding, through evidence, of faith actors in humanitarianism and development.

Join the Global Nutrition Dialogues: A Call for Faith Communities to Lead the Conversation

As we approach the Nutrition for Growth Summit in March 2025, hosted by France, there is an extraordinary opportunity for faith communities to play a critical role in global efforts to address hunger and improve nutrition outcomes for all. The Nutrition Dialogues offer a platform for diverse stakeholders, including faith leaders, to come together and engage in meaningful discussions on how we can collectively accelerate actions to improve nutrition, particularly for children in communities worldwide.

What are the Nutrition Dialogues?

The Nutrition Dialogues are 2.5 to 3-hour sessions designed to bring together 30-40 stakeholders from various sectors to explore the most urgent and impactful ways to enhance nutrition. These dialogues, which will continue through the end of 2024, provide a space for local communities to engage in discussions that address critical issues impacting nutrition in their specific contexts. The process is flexible, allowing communities to tailor the discussions to their local needs while following a structured guide available on the Nutrition Dialogues webpage. Participants are encouraged to document their dialogues and share their findings, ensuring that local voices are amplified in a global report to be compiled early next year.

Why Should Faith Communities Lead?

Faith communities have a unique and significant role in addressing hunger and nutrition issues. These dialogues present an opportunity for faith leaders and communities to share their perspectives on spiritual and faith-related assets and barriers related to hunger and nutrition. Through these discussions, faith communities can contribute to local and national advocacy efforts and ensure their voices are heard in global decision-making processes.

Key questions for faith communities include:

  • How do faith and spirituality influence nutrition outcomes in your community?
  • What role can faith actors play in addressing barriers or promoting positive outcomes?
  • How does your faith inform your engagement with nutrition issues?

Get Involved

We invite you to participate in or host a nutrition dialogue in your community. Once you’ve planned a dialogue, you can post it on the Nutrition Dialogues webpage to build momentum. After your session, use the provided template to summarize your discussion so that it can be included in the global report, ensuring that your local contributions influence global action.

The next orientation for interested participants will be held on October 3 (but also on October 8, 10 and 11 and November 11 and 18), and more details are available on the Nutrition Dialogues webpage. For additional support or specific inquiries, please reach out to Mike Wiseheart at [email protected].

Let’s ensure that faith communities worldwide are part of the solution to end hunger and improve nutrition for all.
