Notable speakers included Cardinal Peter Turkson, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development recently instituted by Pope Francis; Beatrice Lorenzin, the Minister of Health of Italy; Anthony Tersigni, President of the Governing Board of the International Committee of Catholic Health-care Institutions and CEO of Ascension, the world’s largest Catholic health system and Ariel Pablos-Méndez, USAID Assistant Administrator for Global Health.
Sabin’s president, Dr. Peter Hotez, gave the opening keynote on NTDs and the conference ended with an audience with Pope Francis.
