The Urgent Need to Share Responsibility for Global Refugees Crises

There are more people fleeing from war or persecution than ever before. Yet the political will to tackle the problem is scarce and anti-foreigner rhetoric is on the rise. Since 2016, #WithRefugees Campaign has mobilized solidarity for refugees to demonstrate to governments and others that the public cares about refugees and the need to protect them. This is vital in the lead up to the global compact for refugees as called for in the New York declaration. With its positive actions the #WithRefugees campaign also seeks to counter the negative narrative about refugees. The public and civil society have key roles to play by showing their solidarity.

Every refugee family needs a safe place to live

“Welcoming the Stranger” has become a universal theme in all faiths and is the foundation of a UNHCR led global affirmation by religious leaders.

The following social media/outreach materials are prepared for individuals and faith groups to welcome refugees.

All of the materials are available from UNHCR in English Toolkit (messaging), French and Arabic and Italian,  and Spanish

Ways to engage:

  1. Sign the #WithRefugees Petition
  2. Tell your story of welcoming refugees on the global solidarity map
