Religions for Peace (RfP), the global multireligious network, is a founding partner of the Interfaith Rainforest Initiative (IRI), which focuses on mobilizing religious actors to protect the critical tropical forest basins of the Amazon, the Congo, and Southeast Asia. WFDD and the Berkley Center have over several years supported the IRI, notably as a noteworthy example of religious cooperation and action in addressing global challenges. RfP proposed in this context that WFDD explore different gender dimensions of the rainforest challenges, with a specific focus on religious roles. The effort began with a literature review, led by Jodie Salter. Katherine Marshall and Luisa Banchoff wrote the overview. Wilma Mui was the overall coordinator. We are grateful for rich comments received at different stages and especially to those who we interviewed to mine their operational experience.
