From mid-2024 to early 2025, PaRD undertook a research and learning project with partners at the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, World Vision Germany and Indonesia, the Joint Learning Initiative (JLI), and the Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies. The project aimed to apply a “Strategic Religious Engagement” lens to the topic of environmental action in Indonesia, i.e. how the engagement between governments, development organisations, and religious actors on environmental topics can be promoted. Formative research was conducted on the topic with in-depth interviews and a two-day workshop in Jakarta with key stakeholders was held.
This webinar will report on the results of this project and will cover:
- What is strategic religious engagement and how can you put it into action, as demonstrated by this project?
- What is the current state of religious engagement between government, civil society, development, and religious actors on environmental action in Indonesia?
- What are the recommendations for new strategies of religious engagement that will enhance partnership on ecology, sustainability and conservation for Indonesia, with a particular focus on sustainable financing?
