About JLI

An international collaboration on evidence for faith actors’ activities, contributions, and challenges to achieving humanitarian and development goals. Founded in 2012, JLI came together with a single shared conviction: there is an urgent need to build our collective understanding, through evidence, of faith actors in humanitarianism and development.

On May 20, 2025, JLI held its second Global Town Hall, bringing together participants from across regions and faith traditions to explore three of JLI’s strategic focus areas: the faith-based Inner Development Goals (IDG) toolkit, the State of the Evidence Navigator, and the future of faith-inspired aid and development.

Building on the 3M framework (Moments, Mastery, and Movement), the event reflected JLI’s evolving approach toward grassroots engagement and participatory learning. Breakout sessions enabled deep dives into key themes including how spiritual practices shape development goals, ways to improve accessibility of evidence for faith actors, and how organizations are navigating funding shifts and climate-related challenges.

The sessions also highlighted the importance of multi-faith collaboration, local knowledge, and inclusive research practices. Key takeaways will shape the formation of working groups and guide JLI’s next steps in co-creating tools and strategies with partners.

Full minutes and recordings will be shared with participants in the coming weeks. JLI plans to organize three Town Hall meetings per year going forward, providing a regular space for shared reflection, research, and action across our global learning community.
