About JLI

An international collaboration on evidence for faith actors’ activities, contributions, and challenges to achieving humanitarian and development goals. Founded in 2012, JLI came together with a single shared conviction: there is an urgent need to build our collective understanding, through evidence, of faith actors in humanitarianism and development.

Our CEO/President, Maurice A. Bloem, was recently featured on the podcast episode “Don’t Look Up: How Interfaith Dialogue is Leading Change from the Ground Up.”

This episode brings together a diverse panel of interfaith leaders to explore how grassroots, faith-driven action is addressing urgent needs amid political and social division.

Maurice was joined by:

  • Dr. Azza Karam, Lead Integrity
  • Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, New York Board of Rabbis
  • Jonathan Ammons, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  • Sister Fatima Santiago, Proyecto Desarrollo Humano
  • Rev. Ann Schlossnagle, Grace Lutheran Church (Harlingen, Texas) and current Dean of the RGV Conference, Southwest Texas Synod

Together, these leaders represent a broad spectrum of religious traditions and bring decades of service experience. Their conversation reflects a shared commitment to building compassion, trust, and cooperation across faith lines—driven by action on the ground rather than top-down authority.
