The International Development and Religion Unit invites proposals for individual papers and panels that address the intersection of international development and religion, broadly conceived. For the 2019 Annual Meeting, where the Presidential Theme is “Religion and Public Life,” we especially invite proposals that critically examine:
● the historical relationship between religion(s) and humanitarian aid;
● the so-called ‘triple nexus’ of integrated humanitarian/development/peace as it engages religious partners both in the field and in donor countries/communities;
● humanitarian aid’s increase attention to the localization agenda and its engagement with religious partners in the developing world?
As always, the programming unit encourages proposals from practitioner and scholars of international development and religion, and particularly encourages proposals from the global south. Although in person presentations are preferred, provisions can be made for presentations through video conferencing technology.
