Online Information Platform for WHS Side Event by JLIF&LC, SGI, and partners: www.jliflc.com/whs
The Joint Learning Initiative on Faith & Local Communities (JLIF&LC) has worked collaboratively with its members and other partners worldwide to collate and review the evidence on local faith communities (LFCs) and religious engagement in humanitarian response. The resulting evidence briefs follow the five core commitments from the UN Secretary General’s report “One Humanity, Shared Responsibility.” The briefs contain key messages and actions that provide evidence-based insight into LFCs and religious engagement in humanitarian response for the World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) and beyond.
- Key Messages: Evidence for Religious Groups’ Contributions to Humanitarian Response
- Evidence Brief 1: Engaging faith communities to meet the needs of people living in conflict
- Evidence Brief 2: The role of religion in upholding humanitarian and human rights reforms
- Evidence Brief 3: Faith communities are key actors in empowering and protecting girls and addressing gender-based violence
- Evidence Brief 4: Engaging local faith communities for sustainable capacity for prevention and response
- Evidence Brief 5: Investing in humanity means supporting local faith communities’ work in reducing the impact of crises
JLIF&LC has created an online information platform in support of the WHS Side Event that it is hosting alongside Soka Gakkai International, Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network, Islamic Relief, Malteser International, Religions for Peace, World Evangelical Alliance, and World Vision. The side event “One Humanity, Shared Responsibilities: Evidence for Religious Groups’ Contributions to Humanitarian Response” will spotlight the key messages from the evidence briefs. The full evidence briefs and supporting in-depth resources can be found at the online information platform: https://jliflc.com/whs
In addition to the JLIF&LC-hosted side event, the evidence briefs will be presented and referenced at other events at the World Humanitarian Summit focusing on religious engagement in humanitarian response.
