June 20, 2018 marks the 18th anniversary of the international observance of World Refugee Day. On this day, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), faith-based organizations, and other refugee advocates around the world host events to draw the public’s attention to the over 65 million displaced persons worldwide. Among these members of our human family, we focus on the 22 million refugees who are forced to flee their homes due to war, conflict, persecution, and other compelling factors.
Join for an event that will celebrate the tremendous contributions of refugees who have begun new
lives in the United States. Donald Kerwin, Executive Director for the Center for Migration Studies, will share the results of their recent report which provides solid data to support the premise that refugees are truly a gift to local communities and our nation as a whole. Hear about successful refugee microenterprise and employers who have found refugees to be a boon to their workforce and company success.
This event is co-sponsored by Catholic Charities USA, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Catholic Relief Services and the Georgetown University Human Rights Institute.
