JLI is seeking a part-time nonprofit accountant to support a growing NGO  whose mission is to build evidence on faith and religious groups contribution to ending poverty.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit accounting with a mix of grant and contract funding
  • Thorough understanding of nonprofit accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP)
  • Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, management and funder reporting
  • Prepare and oversee tax compliance, audit and tax return filing
  • Process reimbursement, payroll, employee and consultant time and monthly bank transactions to general ledger, ensuring relevant systems are in place to streamline processing


Required qualifications:

  • Accounting or Finance degree;
  • Experience with donor finance reporting
  • Experience with small growing non-profit corporations
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, perform well under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines and objectives;
  • Adept at presenting complex financial information in a clear manner for use with various audiences including board, senior management, staff members and outside stakeholders;
  • Proficient in the use of QuickBooks, time tracking software, and Microsoft Office
