The Unit for Religion and Development Research (URDR) is a third-stream funded research unit of Stellenbosch University, South Africa. The mission of the URDR is to empower communities for sustainable development, through research, theory development, training and consultation. As such it can be contracted by any party to do research on its behalf. In the last five years the URDR has focused increasingly on GBV in an African context, particularly as it relates to and affects faith communities.
