An international collaboration on evidence for faith actors’ activities, contributions, and challenges to achieving humanitarian and development goals. Founded in 2012, JLI came together with a single shared conviction: there is an urgent need to build our collective understanding, through evidence, of faith actors in humanitarianism and development.

Elizabeth Dartnall has joined the Gender-based Violence Learning Hub as its newest Co-Chair. Welcome, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth Dartnall is a health specialist with 20 years’ experience in health systems, mental health and sexual violence research, public policy and project management. Liz has worked in a number of countries, in both government and research positions. She settled in South Africa in 1996 where she had the privilege of working for the Department of Health at both provincial and national levels; the Centre for Health Policy, University of the Witwatersrand; and the African Medical Research Foundation.  Liz manages the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI). The SVRI, established in 2006, is a global programme hosted by the South African Medical Research Council. The SVRI is home to one of the largest networks in the field of research on sexual violence with over 4000 members. The SVRI produce leading publications and materials to guide and support rigorous and ethical research in the field; provide funds, build capacity and technical assistance for research on sexual violence globally; host the key global biannual event on sexual and intimate partner violence – the SVRI Forum; and, have world experts in the field guiding and supporting our work. In her current position, Liz is responsible for raising funds for the SVRI Secretariat and Coordinating Group, SVRI core activities and other work; managing all activities, budgets and reporting to multiple external funders; all aspects of the large research uptake machinery – website, listserv, multiple social media platforms and bi-annual conference; technical management of production of scientific materials for multiple audiences; capacity development within SVRI funded projects (providing direct technical assistance to multiple projects and deploying it from others), as well as advice on publications etc for emerging researchers; establishment and managing of SVRI Grant – SVRI on-granting mechanism to multiple grantees undertaking research in low and middle income countries; and  all other aspects of SVRI management. Liz currently sits on a number of committees and advisory boards, including the GBV Prevention Network Advisory Board, and GBV AoR Research and IM task team.
